Session 1: SharePoint 2016 Upgrade / Migration Approaches – 11am EDT
Microsoft over the years has had various different approaches to upgrading versions of SharePoint. More recently they have chosen to use the Database Attach method. This approach in reality should limit the core effort to perform the upgrade but as with all things this is not always the case. This session will walk through the upgrade approaches as well as compare the difference to a migration.
Session 2: SharePoint Upgrade Considerations – 1pm EDT
Once you know the various options, knowing what to look for and the order of steps is important. When do you deploy the solutions and code you currently have into the new environment? Do you even do that or re-write? Am I moving from standard Windows NTLM to Claims Authentication? Am I moving from 2007, 2010 or 2013? These are realty important questions. In this session we will look at the core considerations for an upgrade.
Session 3: Upgrade – 3pm EDT
Now that we know what is entailed, the approach, the steps and what to look for. Performing the upgrade can be the easiest thing you ever do or can be something that causes sleepless nights. In this session we will look at basic upgrade following the principals from earlier.
